About ATS

Eventually our programs gathered such a following that we disengaged the social clubs to become their own not-for-profit organizations. Today, while we may package some trips for them, they are "on their own" and manage their own activities these days.

We, on the other hand, are still happily traveling the globe and providing travel to groups, corporations, schools / universities, families, individuals, and ATS adventure alumni.

A Quick Timeline

1997 - Lisa and KO found ATS in Chicago.

1998 - First international trip to Africa. 13 climb Kilimanjaro.

2001 -Going strong with over a dozen group trips and scores of monthly local / social / weekend activities. Tech market crash, Arthur Anderson failure, 9/11... and yet only two of group to Africa scheduled for departure on Sept 14 drop out.

2003 - Lisa and KO disengage the Social Clubs... it's both a sad end and a new beginning.

2004 - Lisa takes over the business but KO keeps travelling!

2007 - A decade has gone by already! We celebrate with more global adventures to cool places.

2010 -Students to Ghana, business incentive winners to South Africa, international organization post-conference safari, alumni to Peru, Galapagos, and more! It's going to be a great year!

Adventure Travelers Society, Inc (ATS) was founded in 1997 by two energetic, outdoor- loving friends who, after a great adventure in Chile, wanted to share their world adventure travels with others.

In the beginning we created social clubs throughout the US so that like-minded people could meet through local / social events and weekend trips and gain new skills (our programs including rock climbing, SCUBA diving, kayaking, and much more). Members then joined our trips to fun locations, putting to use their new adventure skills or simply checking out those long dreamed of global destinations. Friendships were forged and even marriages established (we have a new generation of adventure babies!).
