Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Trip
9 days / 8 nights
2 night lodging (bunkhouse & motel) / 6 nights camping

Maximum Group Size: 7 unless pre-arranged for larger groups
Recommended: May - Oct, Best Months: mid-Jul – mid-Sep

Whether your group is family, friends, Scouts, religious organization, or your local sports or anglers club, you are sure to enjoy our special trip to the Boundary Waters. Each departure is customized to meet the paddling / fishing desires, as well as the physical fitness, of the group. This means that you are sure to explore and discover a world all your own at your own pace.
In this magical land without motorboats, lodges, or roads, you will paddle through crystal clear lakes carved by ancient glaciers, sleep under a blanket of stars, and maybe even see the aurora borealis dance in the night sky. By day portage between peaceful lakes, paddle along boreal forests and bogs, spot ancient Indian pictographs, fish, swim, and perhaps even visit some of the remote haunts of the legendary Rootbeer Lady. With almost 3000 lakes, and with camping permits limited, you are sure to have a wonderfully solitary week.

This land has always been a stronghold of the wolf, and is not only rich in wildlife, but in history as well. The Cree and Ojibwa Indians left their mark here, as did the French Fur Traders. Long before Lewis and Clark headed up the Missouri River, the Voyageurs were paddling through this land as part of their canoeing highway to the Arctic. It still exists as the wilderness they saw.

For those who plan ahead, we also offer a trip that starts with a fly-in to Canada’s Quetico Provincial Park followed by a weeklong paddle back to your pick-up point in Minnesota. Our Boundary Waters trip is a fantastic adventure that will reconnect you with nature, family, friends, and life without cell phones.

All departures rendezvous in Ely, Minnesota, with an evening “packing review” followed by a night at a local bunkhouse. From there we will begin our 7-day journey through some of the Boundary Waters’ most beautiful lakes, streams and rivers, canoeing and camping as we move through remote lands and waterways viewing quaint waterfalls and historic sites. We'll catch a variety of fish from the sparkling, clear water and maybe even spot moose, bear, wolves, eagles, otter, and beaver. At night the skies will be ablaze with the Milky Way and possibly the Aurora Borealis, to highlight our campfire tales.

We will cross portage trails used by Voyageurs over 250 years ago and travel land and lakes much as they did. City life and work will seem centuries away as we see no roads, buildings, or television, and hear no motors, commercials or car horns. We will reawaken muscles we'd forgotten we had, and the call of the loon will lull us to sleep amongst whispering pine boughs and soothing lake breezes. Our trip leader will be Ed Deacy who has been guiding canoe trips for over 25 years and visiting the Boundary Waters for more than 30 consecutive years.
