This trip is for active travelers and a dream for people who love multi-sport adventures as well as culture and history. For those who are not able to hike the Inca Trail, our itinerary can be revised to take the train to Machu Picchu.

This will also shorten the trip if you don’t have a full 14 days.


DAY 1: LIMA
Most flights arrive in the evening. You will be greeted at the
airport and transported to your hotel upon arrival.
 

DAY 2: LIMA TO CUSCO
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival in Cuzco, you will be met at the airport and transfer to your hotel. The balance of the day is free for you to roam this lovely city and adjust to the high altitude. Welcome dinner and orientation with your guide. Overnight PICOAGA hotel. (B,D)

DAY 3: CUSCO
You will be introduced to the Incas via a guided tour by car in the morning, visiting the archeological remains of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay. In the afternoon stretch your legs on a guided city walking tour, visit Cathedral, Koricancha (Temple of the Sun), Cuzco museum. Overnight PICOAGA hotel. (B,D)


DAY 4: MOUNTAIN BIKE CUSCO – PISAC
Early in the morning transfer from Cuzco to Piñipampa (11,000 ft) where you will begin your biking adventure (paved and off road; cycles, guides, SAG wagon included). This ride takes you through beautiful countryside where you will encounter a few moderately challenging inclines (total time cycling is 2 - 3 hours), and enjoys a picnic lunch enroute. Visit the Indian market of Pisac and its Inca remains. Evening optional off-road biking through agriculture corps of the Sacred Valley Of the Incas (1-2 hours). DAY 5: MOUNTAIN BIKE OLLANTAYTAMBO - KM 82
Morning departure from Sol y Luna hotel by bike to Ollantaytambo where you’ll visit the Inca town and it’s archeological remains (approximately 2 hours by bike). Enjoy lunch at a Cachiccata rural restaurant (an Apumayo sustainable project in association with the Andean Community of Cachiccata). After lunch continue cycling to 82 Kilometer by bike (2-3 hours), where you will camp near our start of the Inca Trail. (B,L,D)

DAY 6: INCA TRAIL
Km. 82 – WALLAYBAMBA

After breakfast meet your porters and start the trek escorted by our guide trough semi-arid terrain along the Urubamba River valley with magnificent views of snow-capped mountains. Lunch at Llactapata ruins. Evening arrive to our camp at Wallaybamba (B,L,D)

DAY 7: INCA TRAIL
WALLAYBAMBA – PACAYMAYO

After a healthy breakfast begin to walk up to the Warmihuañusca Pass (at over 13,000’ asl this is the highest point you will cross on the Inca Trail). In three hours you’ll be on the top of the pass enjoying breathtaking views of the snowy peaks of the Urubamba Range and an alternate path that leads to the Runkurakay ruins. Lunch follows a short way down the other side of the mountain before continuing your walk to our campsite in the Pacamayo Valley (B,L,D)

DAY 8: INCA TRAIL
PACAYMAYO – PHUYUPATAMARCA

Start the day with a bit of a zigzag but short ascent to the Runkurakay circular ruins. On the way down you’ll notice that the Inca Trail is well preserved from this point. In a short while you’ll get to the steps that go up to the Sayacmarca ruins (10,800 ft). From Sayacmarca the stone road enters the jungle toward the Phuyupatamarca ruins. The trail crosses the "Lago Seco" and for short stretches of the hike you’ll be going up and down. Cross "The Tunnel," a natural cavity produced by a landslide but adapted by the Incas, and later encounter a small pass where you’ll see some steep steps and under these the Ceremonial Center of the Phuyupatamarca ruins. Going down the trail enjoy fantastic views of the Urubamba Valley and River on your way to your last campsite.  (B,L,D)

DAY 9: INCA TRAIL
PHUYUPATAMARCA - MACHU PICCHU

Very early in the morning you’ll take the path down to Wiñay Wayna ruins, the most important after Machu Picchu, where you’ll stop for a special guided tour. From here it is only about another hour until you reach Inti Punku the last pass and the entrance to the magical city. From this site Machu Picchu looks unreal and beautiful. Today you’ll only view the city before descending to the bus that will take you to your beautiful lodging for the night (massages are available; please contact us to pre-book). Overnight in MACHU PICCHU PUEBLO hotel. (B,L,D)

DAY 10: MACHU PICCHU
After your comfortable nights sleep you’ll return to the Sanctuary early in the morning for a day of exploring and a thorough guided tour in the morning.  After lunch there will be free time before catching the afternoon train back to Ollantaytambo town from the Aguas Calientes station. Transfer to SOL Y LUNA hotel. (B,L) Dinner at your own.


DAY 11: FREE DAY
OPTIONAL: HORSE BACK RIDING. You will find the Soy y Luna a beautiful place to relax. Sit outside your cabin reading in the warm sunshine, enjoy a visit to their spa, or simply stroll around the town and explore the market and art shops. Overnight SOL Y LUNA hotel (B) Lunch and dinner at your own
DAY 12: LAKE KAYAKING / VISIT CHINCHEROS ANDEAN COMMUNITY
Leave the Sacred Valley and transfer to Piuray Lake where you will probably be the first among your friend to participate in high altitude kayaking! Paddling for approximately 3 kilometers on this peaceful lake will take you to the village of Piuray (2 - 3 hours) where you’ll finish with a lakeside picnic lunch. Afternoon hiking to visit the community of Chincheros and its textiles shops. In the afternoon transfer to the PICOAGA hotel in Cuzco. (B,L)


DAY 13: FREE DAY
Optional activities you may want to enjoy today include a cultural circuit south of Cuzco, mountain biking up around Cuzco, or simply shopping and strolling this beautiful city. In the evening enjoy a traditional Peruvian farewell dinner with your fellow travelers and guide. Overnight PICOAGA hotel. (B,D)


DAY 14: CUSCO – LIMA

Transfer to the Cuzco airport for your morning flight to Lima. In Lima, transfer to the JOSE ANTONIO hotel for day use. Lunch on own. In the afternoon, take in the sights of Lima on a city tour. Dinner on own… possibly time for a little last minute shopping. Transfer to the Lima airport for your international flight. (B)Properties listed can be upgraded at an additional charge.
