NTWALA ISLAND LODGE Surrounded on all sides by seductively wild and powerful waterways, Ntwala Island Lodge is the most pristine and secluded Chobe destination. This beautiful and unusual ultra luxurious lodge built on a cluster of unique white sand islands fringed with palm trees is situated just downriver from Impalila at the confluence of the Zambezi and Chobe rivers. A mokoro theme is prevalent throughout Ntwala, which sleeps just 8 guests at any one time.
Intricate floating walkways link an untouched Namibian cluster of islands within the Mambova rapids where two mighty African rivers – the Zambezi and Chobe converge, only 80km upstream from the Victoria Falls and where white sands and palm trees add to the romance - belying the fact that this lodge is in Africa!
ACCOMMODATION Ntwala Island Lodge comprises of four ultra luxury styled suites artfully appointed, each inclusive of a private plunge pool fringed by a white sand beach and opulent viewing deck. Each spacious suite has unbelievable river views, bay bath atrium and beautiful lush interiors, indoor and outdoor showers, as well as a private sala extending enticingly out over the water.
GENERAL INFORMATION On the island the pristine vegetation attracts amazing birdlife such as breeding Olive woodpeckers and Yellow spotted nicators. Wood and Pels owls can be heard most evenings. Cape clawless and Spotted necked otters are a joy to watch as they spend days playing on the rocks in front of Ntwala. The resident raft of about 25 hippo starts to disband as the water rises. Elephant move within the Ntwala islands – and often traverse 3 countries in a day (Botswana, Namibia and Zambia) – no visas required!
