KLEIN’S CAMP, TANZANIA
Klein’s Camp in Northern Tanzania is perched on the edge of the Kuka Hills, which straddle the northeastern border of the Serengeti National Park. Set in a private 10,000-hectare / 24,500-acre sanctuary overlooking wooded hillsides, rolling grasslands, marshes and forested riverbanks, the Camp’s spectacular location is in a vital corridor linking the Serengeti and Masai Mara in Kenya, and provides the ultimate exclusive East African safari. Elephant are more common here than elsewhere in the Serengeti and, depending on the rains, the migration passes through the area each year in July/August and returns
October/November.
Unique in Tanzania, night game-drives and bush walks are offered at Klein’s Camp, and driving off-road in open game-viewing vehicles is permitted. Maasai trackers accompany all game-drives and on bush walks offer an insight into the medicinal use of plants. Traditional Community visits can be arranged to view the daily activities and culture of the local residents.
ACCOMMODATION
Ten intimate cottages of local stone and thatch with rich wooden floors and classic interiors. The bathrooms are en suite and have a shower, twin hand basins and w.c. From each private veranda a diversity of resident wildlife may be viewed in the valley below.
GUEST AREAS
The camp has a large beautifully furnished open-sided bar/sitting area with a central fireplace, just a short walk from the dining room, both with sweeping views of the valley and surrounding hills. There is a pool and deck tucked into the hillside and a shop stocks locally made Maasai crafts.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Annually, temperatures at the camp range from a cool evening 54 degrees Fahrenheit, to approximately 90 degrees mid-day during the dry season. The Camp is closed during the “long rain” season of April and May, but is open during the “short rains” in November. While game viewing is excellent year-round, most clients enjoy visiting from June through December and especially during the migration (mid-Oct through November). Travelers should be aware that the Camp resides in a malaria zone so necessary precautions should be taken.(ISLANDS IN AFRICA)
